AshySpeak Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 August 2026

AshySpeak is made by Bridget Hutcheon / Based Robotics (Ormeau, Queensland, Australia). Contact: Bridget.Hutcheon@basedroboticsaustralia.com

AshySpeak is for children and adults who need gaze communication. Privacy is the default, not a setting.

Nothing leaves your computer. Camera images are processed only on your device. No video, images, or gaze data are uploaded. There is no server, no cloud account, and no telemetry. The app does not need the internet to run (Windows may need the web once during install if a system component is missing).

What can stay on your computer

Detailed logging and session video are off by default in released builds.

Diagnostic recording

If you turn diagnostic recording on, it can save video of the person using the app on that computer. Delete those files when you are done. Do not share them without consent of the person recorded, or their parent or guardian.

Reporting a bug

If you report a bug, do not attach recordings or photos of the person. Describe what happened. If a log is needed, open it first and remove anything you would not want public.

Who sets it up

Parents, carers, teachers or clinicians set the app up. It does not collect a user profile and does not send anything off the machine.

Not a medical device

AshySpeak is not a medical device and makes no clinical claims.

Scope

This policy is for AshySpeak. Microsoft Store purchase records (if any) are handled by Microsoft under their own terms.
